St George Church

St. George Byzantine Catholic Church is located in Aurora, IL at the intersection of Rural and Sheridan Streets. Directions to the church are available from Google Maps and MapQuest.

Our pastor is Fr. Frederick Peterson, OSB, and we are under the episcopal jurisdiction of the Romanian Catholic Eparchy of Canton, OH, shepherded by the Most Reverend John Michael Botean, DD.

Liturgy and Confession

Weekend liturgies are held Saturday evening at 4 p.m. (spoken) and Sunday morning at 10 a.m. (chanted).

Weekday liturgies are held Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Friday at 1 p.m.

Masks and social distancing are required at all liturgies until further notice.

Presanctified Liturgy—Select Wednesdays (call to confirm) and all Fridays at 6:00 p.m.
Divine Liturgy for All Souls—Saturdays, 4:00 p.m.

Principle Holy Week Services
  • Holy Thursday, April 1: Divine Liturgy at 6:00 pm
  • Good Friday, April 2: Royal Hours at 3:00 p.m., Vespers and Burial service at 6:00 p.m.
  • Holy Saturday, April 3: Divine Liturgy 6:00 p.m.
Holy Pascha (Easter Sunday) Resurrection Service and Divine Liturgy—April 4 at 9:00 a.m.
Private confession is available half an hour before any liturgical service.
